How to Vote
Election Day is September 29, 2026. This election is conducted entirely by mail — there are no polling places.
Key dates
- August 31 — regular voter registration closes
- September 1 – September 28 (12:00 noon) — late registration at the Flathead County Election Department
- September 9 — ballots mailed to active registered voters
- September 29, 8:00 p.m. — deadline for ballots to be received (a postmark is not accepted)
Returning your ballot
By mail: one Forever stamp ($0.82 postage). The Postal Service recommends mailing at least one week before the election.
Or deliver to a drop location — all open until 8:00 p.m. on Election Day:
- Flathead County Election Office, 290 B North Main St, Kalispell (8 a.m.–5 p.m., M–F)
- Swan River School, 1205 Swan Hwy., Bigfork (8 a.m.–3:30 p.m., M–F)
Who can vote: registered electors who reside within Swan River School District No. 4. Property ownership alone does not confer voting eligibility; voters must be U.S. citizens, 18 or older, and residents of the district.
